Basic Statistics with Stata (June 23 & 24, 2026)
Learn a simple yet powerful way to design and carry out analyses in Stata in this 2 day introductory workshop.
WHAT IS STATA? STATA is a statistical software package which is particularly popular among researchers from a diverse range of fields.
BASIC STATISTICS WITH STATA introduces statistical concepts in a non-technical way and emphasises their practical application in Stata. The workshop will provide plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on experience and to access in-class support.
TOPICS COVERED:
• Introduction to Stata
• Importing & exporting data sets
• Numerical & graphical summaries of data
• Descriptive statistics & plots
• Hypothesis testing (t-tests, ANOVA & Chi-squared tests)
• Confidence intervals & p-values
• Simple linear regression
• Power & sample size considerations.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Researchers and HDR students, or anyone who wants to learn basic statistical concepts to apply in Stata.
PREREQUISITES
A basic understanding of statistics is helpful but not essential. No prior knowledge of Stata is assumed.
